The program brought together students and faculty from four European universities and three cities—Porto, Madrid, and Lisbon—alongside Florence to explore the city through collaborative research and creative investigation. This year’s edition focused on the ancient gates of Florence and their surrounding spaces, using them as entry points to reflect on the city’s historical and contemporary urban fabric, mobility, memory, and transformation.
Among the participants, six students from the Master's Degree in Geography took part in the group activities, contributing actively to the interdisciplinary and intercultural exchange that defined the project. Working in international teams, students engaged in critical reflection, participatory mapping, and experimental practices of urban observation and storytelling.
The BIP program offered a unique opportunity to experience Florence as a living laboratory, fostering new perspectives on the use, perception, and representation of urban space.
We warmly thank all students for their commitment and curiosity, and extend our sincere gratitude to the colleagues from our partner universities for their invaluable collaboration.
