A EUniWell project for promoting the well-being and inclusion of students with migrant and international backgrounds.

In 2024, the University of Florence actively participated in Welcome Re-Course, a collaborative initiative promoted within the EUniWell (European University for Well-being) alliance.

The project stems from a synergy between researchers, teachers, and students across various European universities with a common goal: to promote more inclusive pedagogies and welcoming practices, thereby improving well-being within higher education and society for international, migrant, and refugee students.

The core output of the project is the Welcome Re-Course Training Booklet, a training and orientation tool based on primary research and the methodology of co-production. This volume is not merely a theoretical guide, but the result of directly listening to students acting as "experts by experience." Through the analysis of six key themes, the booklet:

  • Offers practical guidance for faculty and staff on how to structure welcome initiatives.
  • Illustrates real-life narratives and lived experiences.
  • Highlights "best practices" to adopt and critical issues ("worst practices") to avoid in order to ensure genuine inclusion.

The booklet is available for consultation here
